Sea Siren Set For 2012 Hong Kong Sprint

November 16th, 2012

Sea Siren is on track to run in the 2012 Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin Racecourse on December 9, 2012.

The four-year-old has enjoyed a successful spring racing carnival that has seen her win the Group 1 Manikato Stakes and place second in the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic behind Mental.

According to trainer John O’Shea, Sea Siren is in top order prior to her international racing debut in the 2012 Hong Kong Sprint.

“She’s pulled up really well,” O’Shea said.

“I was very happy with her run (in the Patinack Farm Classic). There’s obviously not a great deal between her and Mental and he just had the better run.”

John O’Shea feels that Sea Siren could have won the Patinack Farm Classic had the race been run the way it was expected.

“I think the tactics on Buffering surprised everybody,” he said.

“It meant we ended up with no cover and had to be exposed a bit early.”

Sea Siren has won six of her 10 race starts and has earned more than $1.5 million in prize money during her horse racing career.

The Fastnet Rock mare is currently a three-time Group 1 winner, having won the BTC Cup and Doomben 10,000 during the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

Buffering was also due to run in the 2012 Hong Kong Sprint, however, was sent for an early spell after he was found to be lame in his off hind leg following the Patinack Farm Classic.
